Regional Directorate of Technical Education Kozhikode

The Regional Directorate of Technical Education, Kozhikode established in 1984 and works under the Directorate of Technical Education . It coordinates the programs in government institutions like polytechnic colleges, technical high schools, commercial institutes, and fashion designing institutes in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Palakkad districts. The office, headed by the Joint Director, has 24 staff members, including the Assistant Director, Industrial School Inspector, and Accounts Officer, who assist with academic and administrative matters.

The primary responsibility of this office is to focus on improving the quality of technical education in Malabar region by implementing government policies, supervision of academic activities, and promoting skill development programs that align with industry requirements

This office plays a key role in improving the academic and administrative matters of all technical educational institutions, except for engineering colleges, through internal inspections conducted in the above mentioned districts. It also assesses the quality of private KGCE and GIFD institutions in the northern region that provide good job opportunities for youth and grants them recognition.

The staff appointments and all financial matters, including salaries of the Aided Technical education institutions in the Malabar region, such as NSS Engineering College Palakkad, Seethi Sahib Memorial Polytechnic College, Tirur, Swami Nityananda Polytechnic College, Kanjangad are managed by this office
